Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to take a separate ground school course? Won't I learn all this as I am flying?
* While it is true that there is information covered while the student is flying, there are several reasons why it is advantageous to take a separate ground school:
- Understanding the principles of flight before attempting to fly allows the student to more readily manage the many tasks of flying and become comfortable sooner while gaining control of the airplane.
- There are certain areas on the FAA exam that are not typically addressed during flight.
- It is much more cost effect for the student to be able to review material with an instructor on the ground without the additional expense of airplane rental.
What type of identification is needed to take flight lessons?
* Passport or birthcertificate and a government issued photo id.
Are there any age restrictions on flying?
* There is no age restrictions on when someone can begin learning to fly, but it is recommended that younger students should be tall enough to reach the pedals. However, a student must be at least 15 years old to take the written exam, 16 yrs to for solo flight and 17 yrs for pilots licence.
